When Brenda and Linda came to Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, no one knew anything about their history, condition, or backstories.
But one thing was certain from the very beginning: these girls were best friends, and nothing would keep them apart.
A Heartfelt Rescue

Brenda, age four, and Linda, age seven, were found on the streets by caring volunteers. The Minneapolis Animal Care & Control (MACC) wasted no time preparing these girls for a new home.
Little was known about the dog’s previous lives — all they knew was that they were found together.
So staff members were shocked to find Brenda and Linda in the same kennel one morning.
How on earth did these dogs pull it off?
‘Mission Impawsible’
MACC staff members reviewed their security footage to unravel the mystery of Brenda’s surprise appearance. Much to their shock, Brenda had scaled the five-foot concrete divider. She was unwilling to let anything keep her apart from her best friend.

The crew was touched by the dog’s powerful bond. They knew they couldn’t keep the pair apart any longer.
“We rewatched the video that we have, and I about died,” said Madison Weissenborn, the MACC Outreach Coordinator. “I was like, this is truly magnificent. We knew that they had to be together.”

Staffers decided to give Brenda and Linda the best chance at finding a new home. First, they placed the pitties together in a much larger kennel. Then, they decided to share the heartwarming footage, which immediately went viral with millions of views.
A Loving Home
Shortly after the video went live, an unnamed couple from Minneapolis reached out to the MACC. They had lost their pup of 13 years and felt strongly that the pitties were the perfect pair.
It didn’t take long for them to meet their new owners. MACC staffers says it was ‘love at first sight.’

The couple feels strongly that it was meant to be.
“The day before, I didn’t want any other dog,” their anonymous rescuers said. “We had lost our dog after thirteen and a half years. . . [and] the fact that she had to take care of her buddy, I was just thinking to myself, and this is gonna sound corny, I really thought my Sampson has something to do with this.”
Today, Brenda and Linda have a perfect home without any fences or walls between them. They get to spend the rest of their lives together enjoying the love of their adoring owners.
